The Department has an Equality Committee that is working with the Gender Equality Plan and other issues concerning equal opportunities.
During 2009 and 2010 the department staff has participated in two seminars led by Annika Lindé, Head of Equalities Office at Uppsala University. The first seminar was about sexual harassment and the other focused on different techniques used to dominate or diminish others. In 2011, the university’s diversity expert, Hooshang Bazrafshan, has given a lecture at the yearly staff day.
The committee welcomes suggestions/ ideas about the department’s work for equal opportunities. If anyone experiences discrimination or harassment, the department’s equality representative Helena Grusell can always be contacted. Such contacts are always based on trust and the equality representative has an obligation to observe silence.
The Equality Committee consists of the department’s equality representative, head of department and one representative each from the four corporations represented in the department board: teachers/researchers, TA- personal, graduate students, and undergraduate students.
Equality Representative: Helena Grusell
Head of Department: Magnus Öberg
