The Uppsala Rotary Peace Center for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution selects and educates Rotary Peace Fellows to have a significant, positive impact on peace and conflict resolution during their future careers.
Rotary Peace Fellows are leaders promoting national and international cooperation, peace, and the successful resolution of conflict throughout their lives, in their careers, and through service activities. Fellows earn a master's degree in international relations, sustainable development, peace studies, conflict resolution, or a professional development certificate in peace and conflict studies. The Uppsala Rotary Peace Center is one of six Rotary Peace Center Partner Universities worldwide.
Fellows selected to study at the Uppsala Rotary Peace Center will enroll in the Master Programme in Politics and International studies with a specialization in Peace and Conflict Studies. The programme enables students to critically examine, assess and analyze the origin, development and resolution of armed conflicts on a scientific basis. It provides the students with a broad competence to analyze conflicts and to understand processes of war termination and peace building at local, national, regional and global levels. Click here for information about the MA programme.
At the Uppsala Rotary Peace Center, Rotary Peace Fellows are supported by the fellowship for the 2-year duration of the programme. The fellowship includes funding for tuition and other university fees, a monthly stipend for room and board, summer internship support, modest conference and research funding, and round trip transportation between the fellow’s home country and Uppsala.
The Rotary World Peace Fellowships are offered on a world-competitive basis. Each Rotary district may nominate candidates for competition in the worldwide selection process. Fellows can only be assigned to a center outside of their home country. Complete details of all of the Rotary Centers and the application process, as well as the annual application form, can be found at www.rotary.org/rotarycenters. All Rotary Districts are encouraged to recruit qualified candidates in their area to apply for the fellowship.

Interested candidates must apply for Rotary World Peace Fellowships through their local Rotary club. The fellowship application and selection process consists of three levels: club, district, and world.
In the first step, applications are submitted to local Rotary clubs. For a list of local Rotary clubs see www.rotary.org. Individual Rotary clubs screen and select fellowship applications to forward to the district level for competition.
In the second step, club-endorsed applications sent to Rotary districts, where the Rotary districts perform interviews and make their selection. Each Rotary district submits candidates' applications to the Foundation on or before 1 July.
In the third step, participants are selected in a world-competitive process by the Rotary Peace Centers Selection Committee. The selection committee includes Trustees-appointed Rotarians and representatives from the university partners. The Foundation will inform candidates and districts about final selection decisions in late October/early November.
After being selected for a Rotary World Peace Fellowship, the candidates must pass the regular entry requirements for admission to the MA programme in Peace and Conflict studies at Uppsala University.
