The Uppsala Conflict Data Program (UCDP) has recorded ongoing violent conflicts since the 1970s. The data provided is one of the most accurate and well-used data-sources on global armed conflicts and its definition of armed conflict is becoming a standard in how conflicts are systematically defined and studied.

UCDP Battle-Related Deaths Dataset v.5-2012b, 1989-2011
Content: a conflict-year and dyad-year dataset with information on the number of battle-related deaths in the conflicts from 1989-2011 that appear in the UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset. The most recent version is version 5.0.

Press release on the publication of UCDP’s report on states in armed conflict
A press release was issued on 27 December following the publication of UCDP’s annual report, States in Armed Conflict. This year the report includes an in-depth exploration of peace agreements. After the end of the Cold War, the 1990s and the first years of the 2000s saw numerous peace accords concluded, ending protracted conflicts such as those in Mozambique and Sudan. Since 2008 there has been a marked decline in the number of peace agreements, however, which is a cause of concern.
