Isak Svensson appointed as the new Dag Hammarskjöld Professor

Today, the Vice Chancellor has appointed Isak Svensson as the new Dag Hammarskjöld Chair in Peace and Conflict Research. We look forward the valuable research leadership that Professor Svensson will provide in this vital role.

”I'm honored and excited to contribute to the future of peace research in this role,” says Professor Isak Svensson.

His research focuses on international mediation in civil wars, religious dimensions of armed conflict, and dynamics of nonviolent civil resistance. Professor Svensson’s most recent book is Confronting the Caliphate: Civil resistance in jihadist proto-states (Oxford University Press, 2022). 

Isak Svensson was also awarded The Uppsala University Pedagogical Price 2019 For Social Sciences and Humanities.
