Research Workshop and Policy Day in Switzerland

Last weekend (28-30 September), together with the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA), we organized a research workshop with the title ‘Islamist Armed Conflicts and the Prospects for Conflict Resolution’ in Schwarzenberg, Switzerland. During the workshop, we discussed a number of questions, ranging from Islamist ideologies and how they influence conflict dynamics, state responses to Islamist violence, the possibilities for negotiating with Islamist groups, as well as the post-conflict (re-)integration of Islamist actors. We would like to thank all of the participants for making this such a successful and inspiring weekend!

Moreover, on Monday, in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) of Switzerland, we organized a policy-dialogue day. The goal was to create a platform to allow for exchange between researchers and policy-makers. Many thanks to our colleagues from the FDFA for the fruitful collaboration and for providing their premises for this occasion.
