Online workshop with Swedish and Kenyan scholars

On 26-27 May, the department together with the School of Security, Diplomacy and Peace Studies at Kenyatta University (Nairobi, Kenya) arranged an online workshop on Community-based responses to violent conflict.

The 15 participants (five from Uppsala and 10 from Kenyatta University) shared papers and presentations relating to these themes and engaged in discussions on how to move the research frontier further. The workshop was co-organized by Kristine Höglund (UU), Linnet Hamasi (KU, James Nyawo (KU) and Emma Elfversson (UU) as part of a broader network grant funded by the Swedish Research Council (Research Links).

The participants in the workshop from Kenyatta University were Linnet Hamasi, James Nyawo, Leah Barasa, Xavier Ichani, Joseph Karanja, Bernard Muiya, Fedinard Mumo Ngumbi, Hannah Muthoni, George Oyombra, and Philip Wambua. From the Uppsala side Kristine Höglund, Emma Elfversson, Stefan Döring, Kathrin Maier (intern at DPCR and Master student at Otto-von-Guericke University) and Anders Sjögren (Department of government) took part.
