Special seminar on "ripeness" in Islamist armed conflicts

Next week, Professor I. William Zartman (Johns Hopkins University) will be conferred as honorary doctor at Uppsala University. Professor Zartman is a member of our Advisory Group. One of his many contributions to the field of conflict resolution is the concept of “ripeness”, specifying when belligerents are ready to resolve their conflicts through negotiations. 

At the occasion of the conferment we will host a special seminar on ripeness for conflict resolution in Islamist armed conflicts. The seminar is facilitated by project leader Professor Isak Svensson (Uppsala University) and Dr. Jannie Lilja (World Bank), and aims at identifying hypotheses on the conditions under which Islamist armed conflicts could be ripe for resolution with peaceful means.
